Classes
( 11 Articles )
We offer mechanical training, as well as volunteer opportunities to practice and reinforce what you learn. We know that practice makes perfect, which is why we have plenty of bikes that don't belong to anyone ready to be your learning tool.
In addition to our mechanical training we also offer riding classes. While most people know how to balance and pedal, we teach what people need to know to be safe, be prepared and comfortable to start commuting. Regardless if the last time you rode was yesterday or yesteryear, we have a class to fit your needs.
We even help people learning to ride for the first time, young and old. The process is fairly simple: lower the seat so your feet are flat on the ground, take off the pedals, and then kick and coast around a parking lot for a few hours. This separates the balance from the pedaling, once someone can coast as far as they can kick -- they are ready for to put the pedals back on.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can you pick up donations? A: No, we don't own a truck.
Q: When can you accept donations? A: We accept Bicycle and Part donations in any condition whenever our shop is open.
Q: Do you do bike tune-ups? A: No, but we can show you how to do it yourself (DIY). We provide the the Tools and Expertise you need. Depending on avaliability, we also have used bicycles and parts for sale.
Q: Do you sell bikes? A: Yes we do. Bikes are first and foremost, given to our Bikes for Goodwill Organizations program. However we do sell the left over bikes to keep the lights on. NOTE: Road bikes and cruisers are in the highest demand, so we don't get that many donated and they don't stay on the rack for more than a day or so.
Q: I don't have any money, can I still use the shop or get a bike? A: Of course! We just ask you volunteer instead. You can volunteer (ahead of time) at a rate of $5 per volunteer hour for used parts and/or bikes. Again, volunteering is done before you get the bike or parts, no IOUs.
Q: Do you buy or trade bikes? A: No. To avoid the laundering of stolen bikes we do not buy or trade bikes, no exceptions.

Valet Bike Parking
( 4 Articles )
Valet Bicycle Parking may sound like a strange idea, but it is actually really handy. Downtown Salt Lake City has tons of events, and parking a car is always a nightmare. Of course this means smart people ride their bikes and take TRAX instead. This does bring up a problem, with that many people around, how do you keep your bike safe? The answer is simple, you leave it with someone who will watch it -- and that is where we come in. The Bicycle Collective provides a safe way to ride to your favorite downtown events. If you or the event you are planning could use Valet Bicycle Parking feel free to contact us.
