"TUNA'S annual fall conditioning check, the Mountain Challenge, heads into the hills of Soldier Hollow on Sunday, September 16, 2007. All proceeds from this year's race, the 20th annual running/cycling duathlon, will benefit the Salt Lake Bicycle Collective, a nonprofit group that works to provide affordable bicycles and safety education for riders of all types.

The race starts with a 5K trail run followed by a 10K bike ride. The cycling portion will require a mountain bike or a cyclocross bike, but will be low on the technical scale. Helmets are mandatory for the cycling portion. There will be a kids' loop of approximately 2K (4K for bike) as an option for those under 14. Do the entire course solo or race one portion as a two-person team.

Entry fee is $10 for adults ($12 for non TUNA members) and $5 for kids under 14 ($6 for non TUNA kids).

Race starts at 10 a.m., with registration open from 9 a.m. to 9.45 a.m. There will be no advance registration.

Each racer is asked to bring one usable item from their sports closet for the prize table. Please, no water bottles. Past items have included roller skis, new tires, ski waxes, sports clothing in good condition, concert tickets, a pound of coffee, ....

Volunteers are needed to help run this event. If you are willing to share a few hours of your time on race morning, please contact Chris Magerl at 801.595.8293. Use the same contact info if you have questions."
